A BILL to amend article twenty-nine, chapter thirty of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section five-a, relating to reemployment and reenrollment of law- enforcement officer after withdrawal from law-enforcement training.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article twenty-nine, chapter thirty of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section five- a, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 29. LAW-ENFORCEMENT TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION.
§30-29-5a. Reemployment and reenrollment after withdrawal from training.

Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (b), section five of this article, an applicant who withdraws from a training program for extenuating circumstances acceptable to the subcommittee may be reemployed as a law-enforcement officer and may enter the next available basic training program. Upon satisfactory completion of the program, the officer is eligible to apply for certification in the manner provided in subsection (b), section five of this article.


NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to authorize the law- enforcement training subcommittee to permit a law-enforcement officer who has withdrawn from a law-enforcement training program
for extenuating circumstances to be reemployed as a law- enforcement officer and enter the next available basic training program.
